Lions boss cracks the EFL’s top-five longest-serving manager list after ex-Charlton boss leaves Oxford
Gary Rowett has moved into the top five of the EFL’s longest-serving manager’s list after former Charlton boss Karl Robinson was dismissed by Oxford United.
Robinson, 42, was approaching five years in charge at Kassam Stadium but was sacked yesterday after Oxford’s 3-0 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Robinson was the manager at The Valley from November 2016 to March 2018, taking charge of 74 games in all competitions.
Rowett, who has been in charge of the Lions since he replaced Neil Harris in October 2019, has also now moved up to ninth in the longest-serving managers in England’s top four divisions.
Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver, who has been with the club since 2009, tops the EFL list.
He is followed by John Colman at Accrington Stanley, then Mark Robins at Coventry City and in fourth is Sutton United’s Matt Gray.
The Millwall boss is now fifth.
Rowett has taken charge of Millwall 171 times in all competitions, with the South Londoners currently sitting inside the play-off places in the Championship.
