London Broncos take Stock
Powerful prop forward Marcus Stock has signed up for London Broncos’ 2023 Championship campaign, joining from York City Knights.
The Milton Keynes raised 26-year-old has spent the past four seasons with Knights where he made 72 appearances and scored 12 tries.
Stock also enjoyed spells with League One clubs Hemel Stags and Coventry Bears before stepping up to Rugby League’s second tier.
He becomes Mike Eccles’ second external off-season signing and joins Jarred Bassett, Jordan Williams, Sam Davis, Dalton Grant, Alex Walker, Paul Ulberg and Wellington Albert in committing his future to the Broncos badge.
Stock described signing for the Broncos as fulfilling a childhood ambition and looks forward to linking up with his new teammates in November for pre-season.
He said: “London was always my local team to follow growing up and a move back down south to both play and be closer to friends and family was something I wanted to explore.
“This is a great opportunity for me and playing for the Broncos was a real goal of mine when I was younger. I’m looking forward to working with Mike and his coaching team and experiencing their pre-season and strength and conditioning sessions which I’ve heard a lot about.
“I’m familiar with a few faces in the squad. Myself and Sam [Davis] get on well and there are a few other mutual contacts which will make the transition from one team to another easier.”
London Broncos director of rugby and performance Eccles added: “We’re really pleased to have Marcus onboard for next season.
“His team-mates, backroom staff and supporters at York will know how strong he has performed in the Championship and in recent years he has become an established player at this level.
“He’s very hard working and arrives off the back of a positive season with York and is ready for a fresh challenge.
“We feel like we’re bringing Marcus home in many ways despite him not representing the Broncos badge before. My team and I look forward to working with him when pre-season begins next month.”
