Luton Town boss Nathan Jones has pop at officials over stoppage time call in Millwall draw

BY KAI BENNETT

Luton Town manager Nathan Jones was left frustrated with the officials for adding so much stoppage time in last night’s 1-1 draw with Millwall.

George Evans headed a leveller in the 95th minute as Millwall extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to nine matches.

‘’I feel sick really, we didn’t deserve that,” said Jones. “We made a lot of changes, we tried to be as positive as we could.

‘’We took a few gambles with a few personnel. It is a difficult game against Millwall. They are big and strong, we found that out in the away game.’

‘’Where they got six minutes from I don’t know – because there were no injuries in the game, there were just subs.

‘’Every time we’re 1-0 down, there’s four minutes [added]. I just felt he [the official] bowed a little bit, buckled a little bit and played six – and that’s what cost us.

“At the end of the day we have to win headers in our box – you know when Matt Smith comes on, you know what he’s going to do. You know they’re going to go direct when there’s 95 minutes down. You just want someone to say: ‘Right, I’m going to win this in the box and get my head to it, clear it and then the games done and you get three points’.’’

  • The bloke is full of BS.
Once they scored , Luton started slowing the game down. Millwall were chasing the game and conceded 17 free kicks total in the process. Every free kick Luton took 30-60 secs over, their keeper even got booked for time-wasting. Still, it all came back to bite you on the rear ! And as for a “changed team”, Millwall were missing SIX regular starters !

  • Jones you need to understand the laws of the game.

8 subs is 4 minutes additional time
1 goal 30 seconds and 30 seconds minimum booking for time wasting.

There’s 5 minutes without adding any extra for all the additional time wasting..

  • I am in full agreement with the Millwall supporters despite being a Hatters fan of Luton had not started playing for time on the 80 minute mark and gone for the killer 2nd goal instead we only have ourselves to blame for not taking all 3 points last night
