‘Make a name for myself’ – Kyrell Lisbie – son of Charlton favourite Kevin Lisbie – aiming for FA Cup upset with Cray Valley PM

“Sunday is going to be a special day for me and I can’t wait to step out on to that pitch at The Valley.

“We have every reason to play without fear – we have nothing to lose. The quality that they have is amazing and playing against a Football League team when you’re in the eighth tier of English football, you have earned the right to express yourselves.

“It’s about forgetting they’re Charlton for 90 minutes and going out there and performing.”

Lisbie senior left Charlton in 2007 and had successful spells at Colchester and Leyton Orient during his career.

Ex-Welling forward Lisbie added: “The fans loved my dad at Charlton, so this is a chance for them to see another Lisbie at The Valley as well.

“I spoke to my dad before the first round draw. I said to him: ‘Imagine Charlton or Leyton Orient away? Clubs where you’re loved and have played for them’.

“When the Charlton ball was drawn, my eyes were glued to the screen and I saw Cray Valley PM – it was a very happy moment for me. It means everything for me to score in a league match for Cray Valley, so to score at The Valley would be a special feeling – to go out there and make a name for myself.

“Many of the Charlton fans would have seen my dad play, so I’m sure they can’t wait to see Kevin Lisbie’s son play. It’s a bit of pressure on me.”

Kyrell Lisbie is in the race for this season’s Mitre Golden Ball Award, which recognises the top scorer in the Emirates FA Cup and gives players lower down the pyramid the opportunity to compete against Premier League stars.
