Manchester City loanee helping Charlton head coach to have ‘flexibility’ in his attacking options

Charlton head coach Michael Appleton believes that Slobodan Tedic can play a valuable role for the club – even if the Manchester City striker’s minutes so far have not been in his preferred position.

The former Serbian U21 international, 23, scored the Addicks’ second goal in their 3-1 victory over Wycombe at The Valley on Saturday.

Tedic has made two appearances for the South London club since arriving on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan, both times starting on the bench.

The forward has showing a willing work ethic to chase and pressure when introduced late in the game. Asked about that can-do attitude, Appleton told the South London Press: “I’ve also seen that in training.

“He’s been a little bit unfortunate, because he is more of a central striker. Having said that, he can still give us some options in those wide attacking areas. He is more than capable of being able to do that.

“It’s important that we’ve got options to do that. You saw on Saturday that Miles (Leaburn) played in that (wider) position as well.

“Even though he wants to play in that central position you have got the likes of Alfie (May) and Chuks (Aneke) – Miles can do it, as we saw the previous week. I like the fact I’ve got a littl bit of flexibility in that top end of the pitch.

“Teddy is definitely part of that group who give me those type of options.”
