Marc Guehi can see positives for Crystal Palace despite 3-0 defeat at Liverpool
Marc Guehi insisted there were plenty of positives to take out of Crystal Palace’s performance in their 3-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and Naby Keita saw the Eagles drop to 14th in the Premier League.
Guehi told Palace TV: “[It’s a] tough one to take. The team’s performance was a very positive one. To come to a place like this and play the way we did and create so many chances and be brave, it is a tough one to take and it’s one we have to learn from and move on quickly.
“There are loads of positives to take from that game. All the goals were [disappointing]. Creating so many chances and being so positive in the way we played, very brave, so especially the one before half-time and the second one after all the chances we created as a team, we were really let down by that.
“But we know there are loads of positives to take, the way we played, the way we defended. This is the Premier League, it’s very ruthless. On to the next game, staying positive.
“The backline and everyone defended quite well and we were let down a bit by our set pieces. We all have to take responsibility for that. [There are] positives for the backline, dealing with their front three. It’s important to take that into the next game.”
The 21-year-old spoke of the importance of having different ways to start attacks.
“[Long-range passing is] something I’ve learned since I was young. The manager really wants us to progress in that and get better at that and it allows us to start attacks from the back as well as getting the ball out to the front players as quick as possible.
“I’m really enjoying playing with Joel [Ward] and everyone else, hopefully there are many more games.
“If one of us do go on a little mazy run somewhere someone fills in. It’s all for the team, trying to help the team to get the ball to our best players up front.”
