Middlesbrough back in for Millwall midfielder George Saville

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

George Saville could be on the move before Friday’s loan deadline – with Middlesbrough working on a deal for the Millwall midfielder.

The Teessiders, flying high in the Championship, failed with a double bid for Saville and Jed Wallace at the end of the window for permanent deals.

But Boro have renewed their interest in Northern Ireland international Saville, who would initially join on loan but with an obligation to buy in January.

Millwall have already struck a similar deal with the club-record capture of Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw for an initial £1million.

Lions boss Neil Harris has already stated after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United that the club would need to replace any outgoing players.
