Midfielder set to sign new deal with Dons – with Brentford striker a loan target again
AFC Wimbledon youngster Elliott Bolton is on the verge of signing a new deal with the club – and is set to be part of Johnnie Jackson’s first-team plans next season.
The club revealed on Monday that Bolton was one of a handful of players who have been offered fresh terms for next season, along with Huseyin Biler, Nesta Guinness-Walker, Anthony Hartigan, Paul Osew and Zach Robinson.
The 20-year-old midfielder enjoyed an impressive loan stint at Corinthian Casuals last year before his season was curtailed by injury back in March.
But Bolton – who was AFC Wimbledon’s first ever mascot back in 2002 – has done enough to earn a new deal and a crack at breaking into the Dons first-team next year under Jackson, who was unveiled by the South Londoners last week.
Meanwhile, the Dons are keen on bringing Aaron Pressley back to Plough Lane for a second loan stint next season – but the striker also has League One suitors.
The on-loan Brentford forward netted four times in 27 appearances for Wimbledon last year before his spell was cut short by a hamstring injury.
Pressley has since gone under the knife and is set to focus on his recovery over the summer, but a host of clubs in Leagues One and Two – including the Dons – have already expressed an interest in signing up the Scottish striker for next season.
