Milivojevic has fond memories of transfer deadline day

As Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish, Sporting Director Dougie Freedman and Manager Roy Hodgson still look for at least a striker and goalkeeper in the final hours of the January transfer deadline day today – a task made harder after a potential season-ending injury to Bakary Sako in last night’s 1-1 draw with West Ham – one Palace player took the opportunity to reminisce about the final, frantic day of player movements.
Serbian midfielder Luka Milivojevic joined the Eagles on deadline day last year from Greek side Olympiakos, on a three-year-deal, signed by then Palace manager Sam Allardyce and he was full of smiles when reminded of the day he moved to the Premier League.
“Tomorrow it will be one year since I arrived in England,” Milivojevic told the South London Press at London Stadium last night.
“Maybe I will celebrate by buying my wife lunch,” he joked. “I am very happy here at Palace.”
While Hodgson will hope to sign some more players today, two have already come in with Jaroslaw Jach and Erdal Rakip joining the club earlier this month, and Milivojevic is helping the new additions settle in, ready to experience playing in some of the best stadiums in the world.
“We try to help them a lot and adapt as soon as possible,” he said about the new signings. “We will need them for sure until the end of the season, they have done a few training sessions with us and I hope soon they will be part of the squad.
“This stadium is brilliant,” he said about the visit to West Ham United. “It’s nice to play for sure in this kind of stadium, but a lot of the Premier League stadiums are very nice, very good and every week I enjoy playing in stadiums like these.”
