Millwall agree new contract with highly-rated defender

Millwall are set to sign teenage centre-back Alex Mitchell on a new contract.

The 19-year-old defender spent the final weeks of the 2020-21 season on loan with National League side Bromley.

Mitchell is yet to make his senior debut for the Lions.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has already indicated that there are options to loan the youngster out in the EFL after the way he impressively slotted into Bromley’s defence.

Mitchell made 10 appearances for the Ravens as they reached the play-offs.

Millwall have sent Tyler Burey on loan to Hartlepool. The winger has scored twice in three outings for the League Two club. He found the target in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Walsall and also netted in the previous fixture, a 3-2 loss at Barrow.
