Millwall agree new deal for Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods

Millwall have confirmed another season-long loan deal for Ryan Woods.

The Lions signed the 26-year-old from Stoke City in the January transfer window.

Woods was rested on the final day of the Championship campaign but played every minute in 17 of his 18 league outings.

His contract at Stoke is due to expire next summer.

“I’m really happy,” Woods told Millwall’s official website. “I’m really pleased it has been done so early as well. It was a no brainer, I’ve really enjoyed my time here since joining.

“I think that’s started to reflect on the pitch. I’m starting to get my confidence back, which I lacked for 12-14 months – I’m delighted to be back to myself, and I want to help out the team as much as possible going into next season.

“I’m really pleased with the last few weeks, it’s probably put me in line with the rest of the players in the League. I was a bit behind having not played much football at Stoke.”

Millwall manager Gary Rowett jumped at the chance to work again with Woods. He signed the midfielder from Brentford in August 2018 with his move becoming a permanent one in the next transfer window.

Woods scored three goals in 128 games for the Bees.
