Millwall and AFC Bournemouth both hit with FA charge
Millwall and AFC Bournemouth have been charged by the FA after heated scenes in last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at The Den.
Lions players were left incensed when referee Dean Whitestone did not punish Gavin Kilkenny for going down in the box.
The Cherries player had already been booked just moments earlier with simulation normally also a yellow card offence.
The two clubs have been charged with a breach of FA rule E20.1.
“It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute. They have until Wednesday December 1 to provide respective responses.”
Millwall are not expected to contest the charge.
Lions boss Gary Rowett was asked immediately after the Bournemouth match if Kilkenny deserved to see red.
“No, I think it was one where he anticipated the contact in the penalty box and fell down,” he added.”It wasn’t really a dive; it depends how you interpret it. I didn’t think it was a red card.
“It was a difficult game, it was fast paced.”
