Millwall attacker Aidomo Emakhu suffers dislocated shoulder
Millwall attacker Aidomo Emakhu missed today’s FA Cup defeat to Leicester City with a dislocated shoulder.
The Republic of Ireland U21 international is set to see a specialist next week to determine if he requires surgery.
The Lions also lost Ryan Leonard in the first half of the 3-2 reverse to the Foxes with a hamstring injury.
Millwall were already without Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Shaun Hutchinson and Murray Wallace for the visit of City.
And Emakhu, who recently penned a new long-term contract with the South London club, was absent from the matchday squad along with keeper Bart Bialkowski, who has been ill and not trained.
“He (Emakhu) from an extremely innocuous incident in training dislocated his shoulder yesterday,” said Lions head coach Joe Edwards. “It’s one of those where we have had a scan and he’s following up with an appointment with a specialist on Monday morning.
“Dislocated shoulders – when it pops in and out – they can either do very little damage and you find yourself back on a pitch a week later or they can be bad ones where at times you need surgery.
“We’ve got our fingers crossed on that and by Monday afternoon we’ll have a better idea of when he’ll be back.”
Leonard had played the full 90 minutes in the last eight Championship matches but went down for treatment in the first half. He looked upset as he made way for Ryan Longman.
“It’s a big disappointment,” said Edwards. “Not just for Lenny but the week we’ve had, really, since having that positive spell through Christmas – we have lost a few from the Bristol City game, albeit not really long-term ones.
“But the Lenny one is a disappointment because he has been integral to the consistent run we have had of late.
“His reaction, I don’t know if it was just more disappointment in comparison to pain. I haven’t spoken to him yet. It’s a hamstring, over the next couple of days we’ll have to find out the full extent. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”
