Millwall attacker facing a race to be fit for closing stages of Championship season
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson will miss Millwall’s home game against Middlesbrough tomorrow.
The Icelandic international has not featured since the 3-2 defeat to Derby County at The Den.
“He won’t be back Wednesday,” said Lions manager Gary Rowett. “He’s probably going to be a couple of weeks away still.
“With Jon Dadi it is the side of his knee, he’s strained his MCL very lightly – but it’s an area that is very, very sore. He just stretched in a training game – it was very innocuous.
“Two weeks out now means you could miss virtually the whole season. We’re hoping Jon may be back for the last two or three games – but realistically not until then.
“I certainly didn’t want to make a song and dance and complain about it, but in that front three in a 5-2-3 we haven’t got tonnes of natural options in those positions, because a lot of the players came to the club not around that formation.
“Jon and Mason [Bennett] are two that fit that system really well. So to have those two unavailable was a bit of a blow and Aiden [O’Brien] as well – because he’s another who can go in there and be a goal threat.
“It’s a little bit disappointing but every team is going to be the same. I saw Hugill scored for QPR and the next thing you know he was off the pitch injured. It just seems that little break has almost made players a little bit more susceptible to injury
