Millwall attacker was close to transfer deadline day loan exit

Neil Harris confirmed that Millwall attacker Aidomo Emakhu nearly made a temporary exit on transfer deadline day.

After the Lions’ EFL Cup exit at the hands of Leyton Orient last Tuesday, Harris had spoken about the club’s plans for the Irish U21 international, hinting that a loan was under consideration.

Emakhu started both of Millwall’s EFL Cup fixtures this season and came off the bench in the closing moments of Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Since joining the club in January 2023, the 20-year-old has made 28 appearances and found the back of the net once.

Emakhu was set to make a loan move if the Lions were able to bring in a replacement – with Fulham’s Martial Godo a target.

Speaking after Saturday’s success over the Owls, Millwall head coach Harris said. “We spoke openly about Aidomo last Tuesday evening and discussed a development plan. I want my players to be happy. I care about them.

“Aidomo is a player with a bright future, and we really enjoy working with him. He was close to going out on loan, but it didn’t happen in the end, so he comes back to us.

“We’re looking forward to helping him continue his development.”
