Millwall boss answers question on whether free agent market an option for his striker-deprived squad

Millwall do not believe there are any viable free agent signings to help solve their striker shortage.

Tom Bradshaw (achilles) and Kevin Nisbet (knee) are both doubtful to return until after the Championship campaign finishes at the start of May.

It leaves head coach Neil Harris with only Burnley loanee Michael Obafemi – who scored in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn – as his only fit and available frontman.

“The recruitment guys have had a look at the personnel that might be available, from this country and abroad, and as it stands there is nobody that is going to be able to come in and impact the group at the level that we need,” said Harris.

“It’s always a tricky one at this stage of the season – unless someone has been released from their contract before the January deadline and they have been training regularly.

“We know where we are at the top end of the pitch at the moment.

“I had to be creative at Blackburn, using a cross between Ryan Longman and Aidomo (Emakhu) as options at the top end of the pitch. If need be then we’ll have to carry on being creative.

“We want Michael to be fit, healthy and confident – perform like he did in the 45 minutes on Tuesday.”
