Millwall boss confirms no AFC Wimbledon loan return for Tom King

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Millwall manager Neil Harris has confirmed that one loan deal that won’t be picked up again is Tom King and AFC Wimbledon.

The stopper returned to the Lions last week.

The Dons have since signed Aaron Ramsdale on loan from AFC Bournemouth and he made his debut in Saturday’s 3-2 FA Cup win at Fleetwood Town.

King has not played a senior game for Millwall this season – meaning he could still turn out for another English club.

The former Crystal Palace keeper is out of contract at the end of June.

Harris said: “Tom won’t go back to Wimbledon. Going there served its purpose to a certain degree. He played some football but not as much as we’d have hoped.

“Tom played well in games over the Christmas and New Year period but we understood that a deal had been in the process of being agreed for a goalkeeper to come in from Bournemouth before the new manager [Wally Downes] took over.

“We thought it was in the best interests of Tom to come back to us.

“We’ll look at the situation with Ben Amos being injured [a chipped bone in his finger]. He’ll be seeing a specialist and then we’ll decide the best route for Tom King.”
