Millwall boss Gary Rowett praises Lee Bowyer for keeping Charlton Athletic stable on the pitch

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has praised his Charlton counterpart Lee Bowyer for the job he has done despite the problems they have faced off the field this season.
The Addicks’ ownership issues have hit the headlines in recent months.
But Bowyer, who led the SE7 outfit to League One play-off glory in May 2019, is on course to keep them in the Championship.
Former Addicks defender Rowett said: ”Charlton have had so much turmoil over the years, haven’t they? I know our fans won’t feel sorry for them but certainly from the outside you feel sorry for the fact they haven’t had a lot of stability.
“They’ve gone from one owner to the next owner and it hasn’t felt like they’ve had a chance.
“What Lee has done brilliantly well this year is he’s kept it level and just keeping their heads above water at the minute – which is going to be their aim, isn’t it? They need to stay in the division to be able to build hopefully with the new owners they’ve got.”
