Millwall boss Gary Rowett wants “intensity” for Den clash with Derby County

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Gary Rowett wants to see a repeat of the “intensity” Millwall showed in Friday’s 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest when they host Derby County on Saturday.

The Lions are eighth in the Championship standings, just two points outside the top six.

Derby were 3-0 winners at Blackburn on Sunday to just about keep alive their prospects of the play-offs.

“It’s about us doing the same thing – we’ve not won as many games at home as we’d like recently at home although we’ve not lost many,” said Millwall manager Rowett. “It’s going to be a difficult game.

“It’s the exact same challenge [as Forest] – Derby have got a lot of quality and we’ve got to go and press, harry and run with that intensity that we can. We’re not going to outplay these types of teams, we’ve got to be a little smarter how we do it.

“But I’ll flip it on it’s head – Derby have got to come to Millwall and try and take something out of the game. Which has been quite difficult – we’ve lost five games out of 24 and I’d argue a couple of those we shouldn’t have lost.”
