Millwall boss Harris: Door is very much still open for Aberdeen loanee Kevin Nisbet

Millwall head coach Neil Harris says that the “door is very much open” for Kevin Nisbet still to have a future in SE16.

The Scottish international striker signed on loan for Aberdeen towards the end of the transfer window.

Nisbet, 27, scored five goals in 29 appearances for the Lions after arriving from Hibernian.

“I’ve come up to Aberdeen to do a reset completely, get myself fitter and just get back to enjoying football again,” Nisbet said.

“I probably didn’t enjoy it as much down there. I wasn’t playing, I was injured and I was down there myself a lot.

“I think getting back up here around family, around friends, I know a few boys in the dressing room, I know a few of the backroom staff, so it has helped me settle in very quickly and it is just about getting back playing and scoring goals.”

But Harris – asked about Nisbet’s future – told the South London Press this week: “The door is very much open for Kevin.

“He was an expensive acquisition by the club – because of his pedigree of scoring goals. Kevin has been a little bit stop-start with form and injuries, at times. He goes back to Scotland, and Aberdeen, in good faith and with all our support to be closer to home, his family and friends.

“Back to a league he knows, to help try to catch the eye of the national team manager, Steve Clarke.

“Ultimately we’re hoping he goes there, plays a lot of football and scores goals – gets back to full match fitness as well as a really good place, mentally and physically.

“Then the possibility to come back and team up with us again – in that positive mindframe – will be strong for all parties.

“I’m really going to keep a close eye and communication with Kev. I really hope he plays games and scores goals.”
