Millwall boss hints another addition to squad could happen in ‘next sort of week or so’

Gary Rowett has admitted he could add to his attacking options before the Championship season starts.

The Lions drew 0-0 against Hammarby in a pre-season friendly at The Den on Wednesday evening. The Swedish visitors won 5-3 on penalties with Isaac Olaofe’s attempt striking the left upright.

Millwall struggled to create much of note in the final third.

Rowett said: “That last little bit of quality will come – we’ve got the players to do it – and it may be we can add to that over the next sort of week or so. That’s something we’re trying to do, but I’ve been pretty pleased on the whole with the majority of it.

“In the second half we stepped up a bit more and played with a bit more energy and intensity, we pinned them in and had a bit more of the ball. As the season starts and the pre-season comes to an end you just want to sharpen up a little bit around the edge of the box and create just a few more chances.

“I’m pleased with a lot of the game, I don’t think anyone was too concerned about the penalties

“I’ve been pleased with some of the new players performances. George Honeyman was really bright today, he shows great energy and desire to get a lot of intensity into his movement.

“Jamie Shackleton came on in the second half and you can see what a good player he will be for us.

“Benno [Mason Bennett] was excellent in the second half.

“There were some good moments first half, some good little moves which just fell down at the end.”
