Millwall boss Neil Harris on Derby County test

Millwall manager Neil Harris reckons Derby County counterpart Frank Lampard is still in a period of nailing down his ideal starting 11 – describing the Rams as being in “transition”.

The two sides meet at The Den on Saturday.

Former Chelsea and England international Lampard had a stellar playing career and is now taking his first steps in management.

Lampard took over at Pride Park after Gary Rowett quit to take charge at Stoke City. The Rams reached the play-offs last season but lost to Fulham.

“Derby have probably started like a team that is still in transition,” said Harris. “On the opening day they won at Reading and it was followed by a home defeat.

“It is about finding their best 11 because they are still bringing players in. We won’t know what we are facing until we get the team sheet.

“They are a possession-based team who want to keep the ball, want to play through the thirds and be exciting.

“Again it is another club at this level that has not been long outside the Premier League. They have a squad of players that mean they could name a different starting 11 three times over.

“We know their style of play and we have to make sure we are focused on how we affect the game, and affect it like we did for Boro.”
