Millwall boss Neil Harris on where he expects Boro to finish – and on George Saville’s switch to Teesside

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Neil Harris is looking forward to his Millwall side’s match at Middlesbrough this afternoon – and reckons their squad has all the ingredients to be in the automatic promotion mix.

Boro paid in excess of £7million to take George Saville from The Den in August.

And the ex-Lions midfielder has been a regular starter of late in Tony Pulis’ side.

Millwall boss Harris said: “George is a brilliant lad and a very, very good player – excellent.

“He was excellent in a Millwall shirt and his move was excellent for all parties. Middlesbrough got a good player and paid a lot of money, we got a really good deal.

“It’s an excellent move for George as he tries to force his way to the Premier League.

“Middlesbrough were able to bring on Stewart Downing, Paddy McNair and Britt Assombalonga at Birmingham last week – you talk about the combined cost of those three – they have a class squad of players. They will certainly be top six or top two at the end of the season.

“It is a good challenge for us. We go with almost a full tank of confidence, albeit we had a last-minute defeat to Blackburn but that was on the back of four wins and our first away win. We go excited about the game.

“What you have to do against Middlesbrough first and foremost is stand physically big, strong and powerful. They are a little similar to us and Birmingham but have that strength and depth to their squad.

“They have got quality players to move the ball and put a lot of balls in your box in terms of set-pieces and crosses. It’s a difficult fixture.”
