Millwall boss Neil Harris: “They won’t be on my Christmas card list – it’s not ideal for a manager”

Millwall manager Neil Harris has expressed his unhappiness at Mahlon Romeo being forced to travel for a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier – even though a groin strain ruled him out of playing.
The Lions right-back was selected by Antigua and Barbuda for their fixture against The Bahamas.
But Romeo was benched for the match.
“Mahlon is fine [for the Reading game on Saturday],” said Harris. “He had a tight groin while he was away and no risk was taken, which is good from our perspective.
“He trained Tuesday.”
Asked if a break in sunnier climes was good for Romeo, Harris said: “For a player probably, but not from a manager’s perspective – going all the way to Antigua and not playing and training much is not ideal.
“They won’t be on my Christmas card list, the Antiguan FA, that’s for sure.”
Millwall look set to have centre-back Shaun Hutchinson back available after a couple of months out with a knee injury.
Tom Bradshaw, who scored twice for the U23s last Friday against Watford, is pushing for a start.

“We go into this off the back of two really good performances and off the back of an excellent home win against Aston Villa,” said Harris. “Hutch is back fit, Jiri Skalak played really well at Forest and Aiden [O’Brien] has been away on international duty and will be champing at the bit to get back in.
“Tom Bradshaw scored two goals in the U23s – we’ve got players who are desperate to play.
“There is a lot to consider with three games in seven days, and what the starting 11 will be on Saturday.”
