Millwall boss on why he isn’t paying any attention to Blackburn’s recent form

Millwall manager Gary Rowett is paying no attention to Blackburn’s recent struggles as he prepares for tonight’s Championship fixture at Ewood Park.

The Lions have taken 15 points from their last six league matches to sit joint top of the form guide along with league leaders Fulham.

Blackburn lost 2-0 at the west Londoners on Saturday and have taken just four points over the same period to leave them 23rd in the standings.

Millwall can close the gap on Tony Mowbray’s side if they can record a sixth straight Championship win in a fixture re-arranged after a late postponement last month.

Rowett said: “I don’t really assess them on recent results, I assess them on the season so far – and they have been really good.

“Tony lost his top scorer last season and then actually almost makes them, in some ways, a better team.

“[Adam] Armstrong was a big player for them but Brereton has stepped up and filled that role.

“I’m sure they will be aware that we’re on a good run of form and confident, but I don’t think it will change the way they prepare for the game – just like the fact it won’t change the way we prepare.

“They are a good side that is managed by a very experienced and good manager.

“We know that going away from home to Blackburn isn’t an easy game. We have to do all the right things again – go with the same intensity as well as picking and choosing the moments to show our quality. We have to nullify their attacking threats. I could say the same before any game, at any level against any opposition.”
