Millwall boss Rowett: Both us and Luton Town do the basics really, really well
Gary Rowett has talked about how his Millwall side and Luton Town both do the basics “really, really well”.
The two sides, both on course for Championship play-off finishes, battled out a 0-0 draw at The Den yesterday.
The reverse fixture at Kenilworth Road also ended all square – 2-2.
Rowett said: “That’s a testament to both teams and a testament to Luton and ourselves. Both teams have got qualities in some areas and the reason both teams are there is that every week we turn up and we work, fight and make it hard for other teams – we do the basics really, really well defensively in midfield (both are strong).
“The difference in games has been someone scoring a goal to change the game, or a set-piece to change the game. That’s why both teams are where they are. There are lots of teams with players who would be expected to win games and get them into the top six – but we’re both in there.
“It was a tough game. Luton is never an easy game. How many games have they lost in the last 12 games? Probably very, very few and a lot of very good away results.
“I’m not too disappointed with the performance, I expected it to be a little bit like that and I knew that it would be just one moment that would change the game and neither team could quite find that moment.”
