“Millwall boss would never have allowed senior pros to play pranks on Harry Kane”

Alan Dunne has revealed that any training ground pranks were off limits when Harry Kane was on loan at Millwall.

The 24-year-old, now captaining England at the World Cup finals, had a successful loan with the Lions in 2012.

But Kane and Ryan Mason – who also arrived from Tottenham at the same time – were kept well clear of any mickeytaking.

Ex-Millwall captain Dunne said: “He [Kane] was too young. Kenny [Jackett, manager] wouldn’t have had it.

“Kane scored the best goal in training that I’ve ever seen, like Marco van Basten for Holland. It was a throw from the goalie and he put it into the top corner – just wow.

“It didn’t faze him. I’d have been off celebrating.

“We had lots of loans (besides) him and some can be big time, having themselves. But him and Ryan were very down to earth lads who just wanted to go out and play football. You could see why Tottenham thought he [Kane] had something, because his finishing was immaculate. When I say immaculate, he could cut the finish into the same corner every time.

“I don’t think anyone thought he’d be England captain and top Premier League goalscorer – for him to develop that quick – but he was a natural goalscorer, like an Alan Shearer.”
