Millwall bring George Saville back to SE16 – taking summer signings to five

Millwall have made George Saville their fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

The midfielder, 28, was a big-money mover away from the Den in August 2018 – an eye-catching previous campaign in which he scored 10 goals seeing Middlesbrough move for his services.

But the Lions have brought Saville back to SE16. It is their second deal of the day, having announced the loan signing of Stoke City striker Benik Afobe this morning.

Saville has signed a long-term contract. The club’s policy is not to disclose the length of terms.

Saville has made 67 appearances for Millwall. He has also had spells with Bristol City, Brentford and Wolves. He never made a senior appearance for Chelsea, where he came through the youth ranks.

In total he has played 214 matches in the Championship and news of his return has been met with a wave of positivity on social media by Lions fans.
