Millwall chief executive makes comment on link to Wigan Athletic striker
Millwall chief executive Steve Kavanagh has cooled talk of a move for Kieffer Moore.
The Lions had a bid accepted for the 27-year-old Wigan Athletic striker in late July.
Moore has heavy interest in his services. The Latics were relegated to League One and have failed in their challenge over a 12-point deduction for going into administration.
Moore is thought to favour a switch to Cardiff City, who had an offer rejected in the January window.
Their manager Neil Harris is a long-term admirer of the Torquay-born striker, and had him on a shortlist of targets when he was in charge of the Lions.
Moore broke into the Wales’ senior set-up in the 2019-20 campaign and joining Cardiff could be a major boost to nailing down a first-team spot with the national team.
Stoke, Middlesbrough, Derby and Preston have been linked as well with QPR the first club to have an offer of £1.85million accepted. Millwall matched that.
But Lions chief Kavanagh said: “We’ve got Troy Parrott now.
“Kieffer Moore was someone we were looking at, but it’s not something at the moment we are actively progressing.”
