Millwall closing in on permanent deal for Middlesbrough’s Duncan Watmore

Millwall are set to make Middlesbrough’s Duncan Watmore a permanent signing.

The 28-year-old is set to undergo a medical this afternoon.

The South London Press understands that the deal has been at an advanced stage for the last 10 days but the Lions had had to wait until Boro had lined up a replacement.

Millwall have been looking to boost their offensive options in this window after allowing Benik Afobe and Isaac Olaofe to leave.

The Lions will be bringing in Oliver Burke on loan from Werder Bremen and Watmore, who can play right across the frontline.

Manchester-born Watmore has five goals and two assists for the Teessiders this season.

He signed for Boro in November 2020, initially on a short-term contract after being released by Sunderland.

Watmore was capped 13 times at England U21 level.

He has played more than 250 career matches.
