Millwall complete £300k deal for Morecambe winger Adam Mayor

Millwall have completed the signing of left winger Adam Mayor from Morecambe for a fee in the region of £300,000.

The Lions have signed the teenager on a long-term contract.

Mayor has scored three goals and claimed five assists in 23 League Two matches this season and has already been highlighted as a player with real potential.

He has been in previous England U19 and U20 squads.

Mayor is Millwall’s third addition of the transfer window after loan deals for Tottenham centre-back Japhet Tanganga and Burnley striker Michael Obafemi.

“It’s been in the pipeline for a while, but now it’s here, I’m excited to get going and push on,” Mayor told Millwall’s official website. “I couldn’t be happier. I want to push on and make my first appearance in the Championship.

“Out of all the clubs that were in for me, Millwall were the right choice – it’s a big club. I’m going to be backed by the staff and it’s somewhere where I feel that I can develop as well.

“Moving to London is a massive thing for me – my family have helped me through the process. I’m sure once I get into training and get talking to a few of the lads, I’ll settle in well.”

“If I get a chance to have a shot, I will do. I like to be direct on the ball – if there’s space, I’ll run into it. I think I’m quite quick, so I like to use that where I can.”
