Millwall defender not expected back until after Championship’s World Cup-enforced international break

Millwall manager Gary Rowett is not expecting Shaun Hutchinson to be back until after the Championship’s mid-season break for the World Cup.

The Lions centre-back came off in the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Leeds loanee Charlie Cresswell, who had been absent from recent matchday squads, replaced the Geordie.

“I think he’s just felt his hamstring,” said Rowett.
“On the first look, he didn’t feel it was too severe, but of course we felt that with Lenny [Ryan Leonard], we had it scanned and it was a really bad one. So I’ll reserve judgement. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad, but I’d imagine that any injury at this point probably takes you out until the international break.
“We’ve got players champing at the bit – we’ll have to crack on, won’t we?”
