Millwall duo set to boost selection options for Preston North End match
Mason Bennett and Tyler Burey are both fit and available for Millwall’s home game against Preston North End on Saturday.
Bennett has been out since suffering ankle ligament damage against Sunderland at the beginning of February.
And the former Derby County youngster picked up a minor knock in last week’s U21 match against Burnley after being barged into the post.
Bennett, 26, has made 18 appearances this season.
A hip injury has kept former AFC Wimbledon youngster Burey, 22, out since the start of January.
“Mason is in a position now where he would be available,” Millwall boss Gary Rowett told the South London Press. “We felt before he wasn’t quite ready minutes-wise and fitness-wise – but we think he is there now.
“He played 60 minutes (against Swansea U21s earlier this week) and showed a good level – the same with Tyler. Both Mason and Tyler come into the reckoning to make the squad.”
Leeds loanee Charlie Cresswell is absent with a fractured eye socket.
“I’m talking it layman’s terms but he is still not quite fully able to see properly out of that eye,” said Rowett. “So the specialists want to wait another week. They don’t want to just operate on someone if they don’t need to.
“It more or less means he is going to miss virtually the season. It’s important for him, as a young player, to make the right decision. We’re not any further on (with knowing the next step).”
