Millwall duo suspended for Cardiff City match
Millwall will be without George Saville and Jake Cooper for next weekend’s Championship match at Cardiff City after the pair collected fifth bookings of the campaign in today’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
Saville was cautioned by referee James Linington for asking the official to show a second yellow card to Jack Clarke after the Black Cats winger pulled back Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
Cooper went in the book just before Clarke cancelled out Kevin Nisbet’s opening goal – the centre-back entering the penalty box to say the ball was not spotted properly after Sunderland were awarded as spot-kick which Clarke converted.
“They were unnecessary bookings so that is really frustrating from that point of view,” said Edwards. “One game from the cut-off and to lose two players like that is disappointing.
“It’s at that stage of the season which is busy and everyone is going to need to rely on the full depth of their squad. We’re no different. It just means two people come in next week and have to do the jobs.”
Casper De Norre (calf) has also been ruled out until at least beyond Christmas.
