Millwall favourite Morison enticed by Sutton United challenge

Former Millwall striker Steve Morison has embraced the challenge of keeping Sutton United in League Two, writes Richard Cawley.

The 40-year-old stepped down as boss of Isthmian League Premier leaders Hornchurch Town to take on the same role at the U’s.

Sutton are bottom of the division and Morison’s first game in charge will be at home to Barrow on Saturday.

“I like a challenge,” Morison, who scored 92 goals in 336 matches for the Lions, told talkSPORT. “It still has to be right – you still don’t just jump into anything.

“I had a couple of conversations with other people prior to that which didn’t feel right and I stayed where I was. This is a really good opportunity to build something.

“They are at the wrong end of the table at the moment – everyone likes a story and I think we can write one in the coming months. Everyone will be writing us off but I think we can have a good go at it.”
