Millwall handed boost as duo set to step up their returns from long-term injuries
Connor Mahoney and Billy Mitchell are set to resume full training next week – meaning Millwall’s injury issues have nearly cleared up.
Winger Mahoney has been out with a quad injury since the start of November.
Hamstring problems have seen Mitchell not feature at all in the current campaign. He tore the muscle in pre-season and then suffered a relapse as he stepped up his regime in an U23 match.
“Connor and Billy are ready to rejoin training imminently and for the first time in a long time we have pretty much everybody fit,” said Lions boss Rowett. “We are close to a clean bill of health.
“They have dipped into warm-ups and passing drills. Both have reinjured themselves coming back so we have got to be careful that we don’t push them back too quickly. We don’t want the injuries to occur again and become a huge problem.
“They are probably about a week away from joining in full training.
“It will be nice to get them back but both have been out a while so are quite a long way off being involved yet. But it is baby steps.”
