Millwall hopeful that Jimmy Abdou testimonial game will be announced this week

Millwall are set to confirm Jimmy Abdou’s testimonial opposition later this week.

The midfielder is due a fixture after racking up 10 years of service to the South London club.

The game will take place on July 28 – a week before the Championship season starts.

Lions manager Neil Harris said: “We are very close to finalising foreign opposition.

“Premier League clubs wouldn’t come and play at our place in pre-season. The next preference is foreign opposition to give us a taste of what we’re likely to face at Championship level.

“We’re close to a game I really like but when you are dealing with a foreign opponent there is a lot of paperwork involved, a lot of toing and froing.

“Hopefully we’ll be in a position in the next couple of days to say more on it.”
