Millwall keeper makes six-month League Two loan switch

Millwall goalkeeper Joe Wright has joined League Two side Salford City on loan until January 2024.

The 22-year-old has had loan spells at Bath City, Cray Wanderers and Walton Casuals during his career to date.

He won the Professional Development League Southern Division with Kevin Nugent’s Millwall U21 squad last season.

Wright will battle it out with number one Alex Cairns at the Peninsula Stadium.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Wright told the club’s website.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to come to a fairly new Club, rising through the ranks, and there’s great ambition here so I’m really looking forward to getting started.

“I’m hoping this year I can play a few cup games and challenge Cairnsy for the number one spot, I wouldn’t come here to not challenge so hopefully I can get something out of it, work hard every day in training and see where it gets me.”
