Millwall keeper was just doing his job….as he earns praise from Lions chief

BY ALEX GRACE

Gary Rowett praised George Long for his performance in Millwall’s 0-0 draw with Bristol City on Thursday night.

Long, who has established himself as the number one choice goalkeeper since September, made an excellent save to deny Antoine Semenyo after Jake Cooper and Shaun Hutchison’s joint mistake allowed the forward in for a one-on-one attempt with the Lions keeper at The Den.

”He made a couple of good saves,” said Rowett. “That’s his job, but, certainly, the one where Coops and Hutchy made a mistake between them, I think both of them hoped that either one of them was going to deal with it, and they missed it.

“That looked like the moment to cost us the game. That’s where you hope your keeper makes a big save, but that save was excellent, and a couple of others may not be as tough as that, but he was still consistent.”
