Millwall keeper will definitely start in next round of FA Cup

Gary Rowett has confirmed that Frank Fielding will start again in Millwall’s FA Cup fourth round tie.

The goalkeeper kept a clean sheet as the Lions won 2-0 at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

It was Fielding’s first appearance since the opening day of last season – when he tore his quad muscle against Preston North End.

The experienced stopper has suffered further injury setbacks since which have kept him out of the senior set up.

Rowett said: “I’m so pleased to get Frank out there, he’s had some absolutely rotten luck. He’s been really, really unfortunate and had a tough couple of years. I’m sure that has been mentally tough too, so to get a sustained period must have been a relief for him.

“He has worked incredibly hard to make sure Bart [Bialkowski] is kept on his toes and he performs to his maximum level. People often don’t see that work.

“He is a great lad around the building and a really good character. He has proven himself at Championship level and will play in the next round because he deserves that opportunity to play games and feel like a footballer.”

The fourth and fifth round draws for the FA Cup take place this evening.
