Millwall legend Tim Cahill announces retirement from international football

Tim Cahill has announced his retirement from international football.
The 38-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall, was selected by Australia for this summer’s World Cup finals.
Cahill made it a fourth finals appearance with a late cameo appearance against Peru in Russia.
He is his country’s record goalscorer with 50 goals from his 107 caps.
Cahill tweeted: “Today’s the day that I’m officially hanging up my boots on my international career with the Socceroos.
“No words can describe what it has meant to represent my country. Massive thank you to everyone for the support throughout all my years wearing the Australian badge.”
Cahill featured 10 times for the Lions in the Championship last season but it was in a substitute role, amassing just 63 minutes of action.
He was suspended for the final two fixtures of the campaign as he did not contest a charge of violent conduct for elbowing Fulham’s Ryan Fredericks.
