Millwall Lionesses appoint former Charlton Women’s manager as their new boss
Millwall Lionesses have appointed Keith Boanas as their new manager.
The 64-year-old reached three successive FA Cup finals with Charlton Athletic – winning one of them. He also presided over two League Cup wins in 2004 and 2006.
Boanas replaced Jack Wheeler, whose contract ended in May.
Boanas has stepped down from his job as head coach of Welling United.
“I hoped Welling might be able to offer me an incentive to stay,” he posted in a statement. “I recently received an approach from another club asking if I would consider taking the reins. My hope is to retain links with all and maybe link the two clubs for pathway purposes.
“I genuinely hope the club can not only survive but thrive.
“I am proud of what we achieved and that we represented the club in a positive way on and off the pitch despite some really tough moments out of our control throughout the season.”
