Millwall loan midfielder already working on his coaching badges despite hopefully years left playing the game

Jamie Shackleton has started his UEFA B coaching license, despite the Millwall loan signing only being 22.

The Leeds United midfielder has joined the SE16 club on a temporary basis for the 2022-23 Championship season.

The Lions have an option to make it a permanent transfer.

Shackleton revealed in October 2018 that he was going to start his coaching badges despite being just 19 at the time.

“I started before Covid,” he told the South London Press. “I got all the classroom stuff done. Then Covid came and so I never got to put any actual coaching sessions on. There have got to be so many people in a session and I’ve got them to do.

“Where and how I put those sessions on, I’m not 100 per cent sure yet. The academy weren’t even up around the first team after Covid, things were tightened up, it’s only in the last couple of months it’s got back to normal.

“The hard bit, the classroom bit, is all finished.”
