Millwall loanee has suffered dislocation – but absence from Hull City match was guaranteed anyway

Millwall will have to wait until next week to get a full diagnosis on Ryan Longman’s shoulder injury.

The attacker, on a season-long loan from Hull City, was replaced at half-time in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Preston North End.

Longman, 23, is not eligible to feature in tomorrow’s match at the MKM Stadium as part of the terms of his temporary switch to SE16.

“It seems like he did dislocate his shoulder,” said Lions head coach Joe Edwards. “It is very similar to Aidomo Emakhu (who also suffered a dislocation) – you never know the extent of the damage done until you see a specialist.

“He is injured. Had he been available to play Hull then he would’ve missed that.

“We are anticipating that it is a similar level to Aidomo, maybe a few weeks, as opposed to anything too serious.”

Edwards could have striker Tom Bradshaw and club captain Shaun Hutchinson back in his squad.

Wales international Bradshaw has not featured since the FA Cup loss to Leicester on January 6.

Centre-back Hutchinson, due to be out of contract at the end of June, last played when he scored the winner at Bristol City at the start of 2024.

The pair joined the Lions squad for modified training on Monday.

“Tuesday is the hardest working day of the week on the training pitch and Hutch and Tom both participated in the full session,” said Edwards.

“All being well we just keep progressing them on.

“Hutch’s injury was probably slightly more significant than Tom’s, so you have to consider that when you think about what games you integrate them back into – even more so getting them on the pitch, not just back in the squad.

“They are both knocking on the door now in terms of being ready for selection.”

Duncan Watmore, who missed the North End game due to illness, is also available.

Millwall have lost their two most recent visits to Hull City. They last won there in July 2020, Ryan Leonard’s second-minute goal securing a 1-0 success.
