Millwall midfielder agrees new long-term contract

Billy Mitchell has agreed a new long-term contract at Millwall.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who came through the club’s youth ranks, is set to put pen to paper over the weekend.

Mitchell has made 71 senior appearances for the Lions.

And in the 2021-22 season he became a first-team mainstay as he made 42 appearances in the Championship as well as featuring in three of the club’s cup ties as well.

Those performances have earned Mitchell improved and extended terms. He last signed a deal in April 2021. At the time Mitchell, a Lions fans, told our paper: “I feel like this club is going places and I want to be a part of that. It’s also having security, especially at a time like this, when there are going to be a lot of players out of contract. It’s nice to be able to plan ahead.”

Millwall are also hoping to secure Danny McNamara on fresh terms. The right-sided defender has been the subject of bids from Queens Park Rangers that have been instantly rejected by the South Londoners.
