Connor Mahoney has revealed that the persistence of Neil Harris helped him decide to make the move to Millwall.
The 22-year-old winger has joined the Lions for a seven-figure sum from AFC Bournemouth.
The contract length has only been described as “long-term” by the Championship outfit, who have not disclosed that information since last summer.
“Neil was a massive factor in getting me here,” Mahoney told Millwall’s official website. “He has been very persistent over the last few weeks to get the deal over the line, which for me, as a player, is wonderful. It was an easy decision for me, I can’t wait to get going.
“I played against almost everyone last season, at The Den and at Birmingham, and I know Bradders [Tom Bradshaw] from my time at Barnsley. I’m excited to meet them all, I think we’ll all gel well when we’re away in Portugal, it’s a perfect chance to get some team bonding in before the season starts.
“I want to make a good impression in that first game. I’m taking each week, each game as it comes, build my minutes up whilst in Portugal, and then when I come back, try to get some more. Then I’ll be ready for the new season.
“Last season wasn’t the best for the club, but I was speaking to the gaffer and he was telling me about the season before, in which we had a top-half finish. I think that’s our ambition for this season, finishing there, and then you never know what might happen.
“I’m looking forward to every game, the derbies with Charlton Athletic, the Luton Town game that has just been announced to be shown on Sky, but I’m also looking forward to my first game at The Den, which will hopefully be the first game of the campaign against Preston North End.”
the lions released atleast 10 players from what Neil felt was a light weight squad. can we therefore expect a further 6/8 decent signings?
