Millwall not set to attempt summer move for Motherwell midfielder

Millwall will not make a fresh move for Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell in the summer, writes Richard Cawley.

The Lions had the 22-year-old Glaswegian, who is out of contract at the end of June, on their list of targets in the January window.

But the South London Press understands there will be no new attempt by Millwall to acquire the former Scotland U21 international.

The Championship side added to their options in the middle of the park by snapping up Maikel Kieftenbeld on a free transfer from Birmingham City.

And George Evans is also expected to be utilised there, with injuries largely forcing the former Derby man to slot into the backline since arriving in SE16.

Campbell is seen as a similar type of player and Millwall also have Billy Mitchell, Ben Thompson and Ryan Leonard.

Lions manager Gary Rowett is believed to have instead prioritised bringing in an attacking goalscoring midfielder.
