Millwall not setting deadline for appointing new manager

Millwall are not setting a deadline in their search for Gary Rowett’s successor and are determined to conduct a thorough process.
The Lions hierarchy are open-minded over candidates and will be meeting them over the next couple of weeks.
The Championship club will repeat the approach they last did in 2019, when Rowett was eventually determined as the right successor to follow on from Neil Harris.
It means that any potential new bosses will face more than one round of interviews to land the Den vacancy.
Millwall chairman James Berylson and his mother Amy are flying over for tomorrow’s home fixture against Blackburn, a move which was planned before Rowett’s departure.
Rowett left by mutual consent last Wednesday.
Millwall have full faith and confidence in the caretaker management team, which is being led by Adam Barrett, and the playing squad.
Barrett kicked off his temporary tenure with a 1-1 draw at Preston North End on Saturday, Zian Flemming’s excellent strike seeing them bounce back from conceding early.
Barrett will once again take charge for the visit of Rovers.
Millwall then head to Watford on Saturday.
