“Millwall players would not be let in the building” if they were focusing on FA Cup tie against Brighton

Millwall manager Neil Harris has dismissed any suggestion his side have one eye on their impending FA Cup quarter-final.

The Lions face a hugely significant trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Millwall’s 3-1 loss to Norwich City yesterday saw their gap over the Championship bottom three cut to just one point.

Asked if that trip to Wanderers was bigger than their last-eight meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup, Harris replied: “Oh, far bigger. We’re not going to win the FA Cup. It’s a great day out, the quarter-final against Brighton – everyone will really enjoy the occasion and we’ll give it a right go when we get to it.

“But if I thought any of my players were thinking about that, I wouldn’t let them in the building.

“We’re fully focused on the league. The league is the priority – staying in the Championship and amassing points as quickly as possible is the mindset of the players.

“I know that’s the mindset of the players – there is no focus on the FA Cup.”
