Millwall set to make improved bid for Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass – and close to Premier League loan

Millwall are set to make an improved bid for Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass.

The Lions had an initial offer knocked back for the 27-year-old, who scored nine goals in 41 Championship matches for the relegated Owls.

The South London Press understands that Millwall are readying a new attempt to land Windass, who has also played for Wigan, Rangers and Accrington Stanley.

Millwall are also working on a deal for a different striker as well as being close to a loan signing of a young defender from a Premier League club.

The Lions have made one signing this summer with goalkeeper George Long arriving on a free transfer once his Hull City contract expires.

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has already made it clear he wants to bring in two offensive players – one of those a forward – as he looks to strengthen his squad for the 2021-22 campaign.
